Craftsman vs. Greenworks Lawn Mower

Are you on the hunt for new yard work tools, specially lawnmowers? If this is the case, you have come to the right place. Today we want to look at two brand names, both of which are very popular and highly trusted, and see how they stack up against each other in terms of their best lawnmowers. We will be comparing some important points, such as customer service and overall pricing of each brand name, but we want to do a Craftsman Lawnmower vs. Greenworks Lawnmower comparison. We’ll be looking at some of the most popular mowers from each brand to see which one is better for you.

Craftsman vs. Greenworks

When it comes to yard work tools, both Craftsman and the Greenworks have become quite popular and highly trusted. Both have large lines of machines and tools for various purposes. We want to compare these brand names with each other, but it can be hard to do based on arbitrary points.

In terms of the brand names themselves, both are highly trusted in many regards. Something you might want to know is that Greenworks is usually more dedicated to yard work tools such as mowers, blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and even snowblowers too, whereas Craftsman does all of these things, but also makes a lot of other power tools for carpentry and other such things.

When it comes to brand recognition and trustworthiness, both are really high on the scale, and both also have excellent reputations when it comes to customer service. What does need to be said is that Greenworks tends to be the more cost-effective of the two, whereas Craftsman products tend to be more expensive.

Therefore, the best way to compare these brands is to take two of their most popular lawnmower models and see how they compare with each other. This will give you a good idea of what each brand name is all about.

Craftsman CMCMW260P1 Lawn Mower Review

One of the best lawnmowers from this brand at this time is the Craftsman CMCMW260P1 Lawn Mower, which is a great option if you plan on getting a battery-powered lawnmower. If you are looking for versatility, a battery-operated mower is always a good way to go because you don’t need to worry about running over an electric cord, that your cord is long enough, and you don’t have to deal with gas engines either, loud, polluting, and expensive. If you have a fairly small or even a medium size yard, an average battery-powered mower like the Craftsman CMCMW260P1 Lawn Mower should do just fine.

In terms of the functionality of the Craftsman CMCMW260P1 Lawn Mower, it can mulch, bag, and discharge grass clippings. It comes complete with the mulching feature, a grass clippings bag, as well as the discharge chute, so in this sense, it’s ready to go. The Craftsman CMCMW260P1 Lawn Mower is not exactly lightweight, as it comes in at nearly 80 lbs., but it is pretty compact.

Some of that added weight comes from the battery. Keep in mind that this lawnmower is not self-propelled, so you will need to push it. That said, it does have a fairly comfortable push handle, as well as pretty big and solid wheels. So, although it’s not self-propelled, it should not be too hard to push.

When it comes to the power of the Craftsman CMCMW260P1 Lawn Mower, it has a 60 volt engine. It’s not overly powerful when compared to some gas-powered and corded lawnmowers, but it works just fine for basic needs. As long as the grass is not overly tall, dense, or wet, it should work well. It’s the kind of lawnmower you would get for smaller around-the-house mowing needs, for small and maybe some small-medium size jobs. That said, the Craftsman CMCMW260P1 Lawn Mower does have a durable design overall, with a 21-inch metal deck for stability. Having an easy push start feature is also convenient.

The included battery here is a fairly high-quality 5Ah lithium-ion battery which keeps its charge for quite some time, even when not being used. It can easily stay fully charged for several weeks when not in use. Moreover, it delivers a decent amount of power to the lawnmower.

Now, in terms of charging time, it is advertised as taking about 1 hour to charge, but in all reality, you are looking at about 2 hours of charging time. Compared to that charging time, the Craftsman CMCMW260P1 Lawn Mower will provide you with maybe 30 to 45 minutes of runtime, which is alright, but not great. Once again, it’s the kind of thing you would get for smaller lawns. The fact that it collapses down for storage is another bonus we like.

Craftsman CMCMW260P1 Lawn Mower Pros & Cons

  • Fairly Durable
  • Do not have to deal with gas or electric cords
  • Nice for smaller lawns
  • Decent runtime for a small battery powered engine
  • 3 in 1 mowing functions
  • Easy to store and transport
  • Easy start

  • Long charging time
  • Does not deal with thick, dense, and tall grass too well
  • Not ideal for larger jobs
  • Fairly expensive for what it is
  • A bit on the heavy side of things

GreenWorks 25022 Electric Lawn Mower Review

Greenworks also makes some really nice products, such as this GreenWorks 25022 Electric Lawn Mower. What you should note here is that this particular lawnmower is a corded option. Some people are not fans of corded lawnmowers because you do always have to worry about how long your extension cord is, where the nearest power outlet is, and you have to watch out so you don’t run over the cord.

However, on the other hand, you never have to worry about charging the GreenWorks 25022 Electric Lawn Mower. This mower can run as long as there is a power outlet nearby, which means that it technically has an unlimited runtime. As long as you have a power cord and an outlet nearby, this really should not be an issue at all.

On that same note, what can also be said is that corded lawnmowers are  more powerful than battery-powered lawnmowers, as they have much steadier power delivery. The GreenWorks 25022 Electric Lawn Mower is a 12-amp lawnmower, which translates to roughly 120 volts, which is about twice as powerful as the Craftsman lawnmower we looked at above. Simply put, the GreenWorks 25022 Electric Lawn Mower has a lot more engine power, it provides the blades with more power, and therefore it can get through tall, thick, and dense grass with ease. This thing is ideal for larger swaths of land that need a lot of power to get through all of the grass.

What is also nice about the GreenWorks 25022 Electric Lawn Mower is that it weighs just 56 lbs., plus it comes with good wheels and a comfortable push handle too. The lightweight and ergonomic design makes it very easy to push around, even if you personally don’t have all that much muscle strength. That said, the deck size is 1 inch smaller than that of the Craftsman mower, so it might take a few more passes to mow the same amount of grass.

Keep in mind that this particular option also allows for grass bagging, mulching, and side discharging too, with everything required included. Moreover, the GreenWorks 25022 Electric Lawn Mower comes with a 1 button push start feature, which helps save time. However, it does have a steel deck, and although in the grand scheme of things, it appears that it may not be quite as durable as the Craftsman mower we looked at above.

GreenWorks 25022 Electric Lawn Mower Pros & Cons

  • Unlimited runtime
  • Powerful engine
  • Ideal for large lawns with thick grass
  • Easy start
  • Lightweight and easy to maneuver
  • 3-in-1 mowing functions
  • Cost effective

  • Have to deal with a power cord
  • Somewhat limited durability
  • Entrance to clippings bag has a tendency to clog

Craftsman vs. Greenworks Lawnmower Comparison

  • The Greenworks mower has a much more powerful engine
  • The Greenworks mower is corded and has unlimited runtime
  • The Greenworks mower is less durable than the Craftsman mower
  • The Craftsman mower does not have you dealing with a power cord
  • The Craftsman mower is a bit heavier and bulkier

  • Both mowers can mulch, bag, and side discharge grass
  • Both mowers have nice wheels and a good push handle
  • Both mowers can collapse down for easy storage

What These Mowers are Ideal For

Both of these lawnmowers, and both brand names, are perfectly fine options. The Greenworks mower is probably better if you need more power to deal with larger and thicker lawns, but it’s also not quite as durable, and  you do have to deal with a power cord. On the other hand, the Craftsman option is a bit more durable, and heavier too, but also less powerful, and you have to deal with batteries.

At the end of the day, which brand you go with is really up to you. It’s always hard to judge when comparing brand names, because a lot of it does come down to personal experience. Some may prefer one brand name over another. Now, if you are looking for eco-friendly products for a good price, Greenworks is probably the better option . However, if you need a wide array of tools, such as for lawncare and carpentry, and you don’t mind paying a bit extra for high quality products, you probably want to stick with Craftsman.

Which is the more cost effective brand name?

Greenworks tends to be more cost effective. Craftsman is known for their quality, but this does also come with a price.

Generally speaking, which brand has the higher level of quality?

Craftsman tends to be a bit pricier, with Greenworks often offering discounts, but , you get what you pay for, and seeing as Craftsman is a bit more expensive, the quality of their products tends to be a bit better as well.

Which brand name is more well know?

This is kind of a double sided question, because when it comes purely to yard work tools, although Greenworks is fairly new, they are quickly being recognized as one of the biggest players around. However, when it comes to tools overall, such as carpentry tools, Craftsman  has a much larger selection of products and is more well known.

Which is the more eco-friendly of the two brand names?

Craftsman does offer some great electric and battery-powered lawncare tools, but they also excel at gas-powered options. As you can probably tell by the name, Greenworks is all about being eco-friendly, which makes it the brand  if you are concerned with the state of the environment.
